ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

The APTERR Secretariat and Brunei Darussalam with the support of the Asian Development Bank-Technical Assistance (ADB-TA) consultant successfully concluded a meeting on 14 August 2025 in Bandar Seri Begwan to finalise the ‘Concept Paper for the APTERR Tabletop Exercise (TTX).’ Initiated by Brunei, this initiative aims to further strengthen the APTERR mechanism, ensuring more effective and efficient food emergency response to emerging megatrends that threaten food security in the region.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakerson, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, was invited by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to attend the meeting on “Global Food and Nutrition Crisis – Large Scale Food Fortification” during 28-30 July 2025 at UN WFP Headquarter, in Rome, Italy.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, and Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI), recently participated in the 23rd ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Focal Point. The event took place in Yangon, Myanmar on 17–18 June 2025 hosted by the AFSIS Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation (MOALI) of Myanmar.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat together with Mr. Aro Kasakawa, Japanese Expert, and Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI), participated in the ‘Regional Workshop on Enhancing Disaster Data Reporting and Integrating New Commodity Data under the Project for Strengthening ASEAN Food Security Information System Function for Emergency (SAFER)’, organised by the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat on 21-22 May 2025 in Chonburi province, Thailand.
Dr. Kanchana Wanichkorn, and Dr. Pham Quang Minh of ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) has visited the APTERR Secretariat and participated in the discussion with the Department of Land Development (DLD) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives on 29 April 2025, represented by Mr. Pittayakorn Limthong, Soil Export and Mrs. Kreeyaporn Devahastin, Director of International Affairs of DLD and Coordinator of Department of Administration and Collaboration, Center of Excellence for Soil Research in Asia (CESRA).
