ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI) as a representative of the APTERR Secretariat, participated in an online focus group meeting to conduct a global strategic environmental scanning and industry-specific analysis under the international trade intelligence community for climate change measures and sustainable development project organised by the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) on 31 July 2024.
The APTERR Secretariat, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, met with the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines, led by Administrator Dr. Larry R. Lacson, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan led by Grain Quality Assurance Office Director of Grain Trade and Operation Division Mr. Kenji Okuhira, to discuss on the extension of Tier 1 between the Philippines and Japan on 30 July 2024 at the NFA office in Quezon City, the Philippines.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, engaged in a fruitful discussion with the representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation (aT) led by Mr. Sang Moon Byun, Director of Food Grain Policy Division of MAFRA and an APTERR Council member, on enhancing the Tier 3 programme for an effective and timely response in time of emergency, thereby strengthening food security.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, welcomed Mr. Kenichi Hirano, Director of Grain Trade and Operation Division, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF-Japan), to the APTERR Secretariat office on 2 July 2024 for discussions on the Tier 1 and Tier 3 programmes.
The APTERR Secretariat, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, welcomed representatives from the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), to its office on 28 June 2024 for a discussion of ERIA’s preliminary study for exploring ‘Local Resource-Based Food Reserve (LRBFR)’ mechanism in ASEAN Member States (AMS).
