General Manager Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee together with Japanese Expert Mr. Toshiki Tojo and the APTERR staff participated in the ceremonial turnover of 300-MT rice contributed by Japan to support rehabilitation efforts for families experiencing adversity from Super Typhoon Rai in the Philippines. The occasion was hosted by the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines led by Administrator ATTY. Judy Carol L. Dansal at the NFA’s warehouse in Valenzuela city, the Philippines on 17 March 2022.
Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko accompanied with First Secretary Mr. Jumpei Tachikawa, as representatives from the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, were present in this memorable event while the NFA’s representatives including Assistant Administrator for Operations ENGR. Lemuel R. Pagayunan, Assistant Administrator for Finance and Administration Mr. Gerry J. Ambrosio along with the Director Emmanuel P. Privado from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) of the Philippines, and Vice Governor Eddie D. Gokiangkee, JR. of the Surigao del Norte province also attended.
The 300-MT rice is a generous contribution from the Government of Japan via the APTERR Tier 3 pre-positioned programme. The rice is going to be distributed to 10,000 beneficiary households in the areas of Cebu and Bohol provinces in Region VII and Surigao del Norte in CARAGA, which are considered to be among the worst-affected areas of the Super Typhoon Rai’s destruction.
