ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
The Modification to the Memorandum of Cooperation for the Release and Utilisation of Earmarked Stocks under the Tier 1 Programme of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve Earmarked between the Philippines and Japan was successfully signed on 11 October 2024 in Palawan, the Philippines. This extension will continue the Tier 1 cooperation for another three-year phase (CY 2024-2027).
On 20 September 2024, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn led a team including Japanese Expert Mr. Akinori Ando, Head of Implementation Ms. Jansinee Kankaew, and Technical Staff of FEMI Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum to pay a courtesy call on Minister Counsellor Kittivudh Pinyowit at the Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam.
Due to the severe impacts of ongoing conflicts and worsening floods, 2,500 MT of rice contributed by the Republic of Korea through Tier 3 programme has been released for immediate emergency response to assist the internally displaced people (IDPs) affected by disasters across Myanmar.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, led the APTERR team in the meeting with the representatives from the National Food Authority (NFA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) concerning a report on the release of rice assistance in Region VIII, part of 750-MT rice contributed by the Republic of Korea in response to calamities in the Philippines.
The APTERR Secretariat team, accompanied with the National Food Authority (NFA) Central Office team, visited the NFA Port Area Warehouse in Tacloban City, Eastern Visayas Region of the Philippines on 31 July 2024 to inspect 300 MT of rice contributed by Japan through Tier 3, pre-positioned in the Philippines in preparing for a swift respond amid disasters.
