ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
The APTERR Secretariat, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM), together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, as well as the APTERR staff, visited Lao PDR during 13-16 March 2023 to monitor the distribution of Japan’s 300-MT rice contributed to support people affected by devastating floods and landslides and to discuss with various government and international humanitarian agencies in enhancing food security in the country.
On 22 December 2022, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat along with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, welcomed the representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of Japan (MAFF-Japan) to the APTERR Secretariat office.
The APTERR Secretariat on 21 December 2022 attended the handover ceremony of 1,000 MT of rice contribution by Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) through Tier 3 programme to safeguard food security in Lao PDR.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, and the APTERR staff paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador to Lao PDR at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 20 December 2022.
On 25 November 2022, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, and Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, warmly welcomed Mr. Yasuhiro Miyake, the new Japanese Expert of the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat, who visited the APTERR Secretariat office to introduce himself upon his assumption of duty.
