ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
General Manager Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn of the APTERR Secretariat accompanied with Japanese Expert Mr. Akinori Ando and the APTERR staff visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) of Malaysia on 10 June 2024 to bolster cooperation and explore a potential collaboration with Malaysia on the APTERR Tier 3 programme.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, was invited to be one of panelists of the Deep Dive Session on Asia’s Rice Market, Food Security Concerns and Policy at the ‘Asia and Pacific Food Security Forum 2024’ organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 12 April 2024 at ADB Headquarters in Manila, the Philippines.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, led his team consisting of Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for FEMI and Ms. Sita Kumpol, Secretary to the Japanese Expert, attended the ceremonial handover and actual rice distribution of 750 MT of rice contributed by the Republic of Korea (ROK) held in Calbayog City, Samar in Region VIII of the Philippines on 28 February 2024.
The APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat participated the ceremonial handover and actual distribution of the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s rice assistance hosted by the National Food Authority (NFA) led by Mr. Roderico R. Bioco, Administrator in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local governmental units led by Mr. Edwin Marino C. Ongchuan, Governor of Northern Samar on 27 February 2024 in Northern Samar in Region 8, the Philippines.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, accompanied by Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for FEMI and Ms. Sita Kumpol, Secretary to the Japanese Expert, inspected 750 MT of rice contributed by the Republic of Korea through a pre-positioned stockpiled system under Tier 1 to the Philippines at the National Food Authority (NFA)-Owned GID II Warehouse in a Province of Batangas on 26 February 2024.
