ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
A meeting between the APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia led by Mr. Chheng Vibolrith, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, was held on 14 June 2022 at the office of MAFF in Phnom Penh to discuss and update this year’s Tier 3 programme implementation in Cambodia.
The APTERR Secretariat led by Dr.Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager and Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert visited the National Disaster Warning Centre (NDWC) under the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior of Thailand on 10 June 2022.
On 26 May 2022, Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert of the APTERR Secretariat along with the APTERR Staff, visited C.P. Thai Rice Co., Ltd (Nakhon Luang Rice Mill) and the Local Rice Centre at Hua Wiang, Sena district, Ayutthaya province, Thailand.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, was invited to be an honourable keynote speaker in the virtual seminar of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Policy Partnership on Food Security (PPFS) on Sharing Good Practices on Sustainable Agricultural Development through Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) hosted by the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), Thailand during 23-24 May 2022. Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, along with two APTERR Staff also attended the seminar as the representatives of the APTERR Secretariat.
On 17 May 2022, new General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn started his first mission aboard by attending the ceremonial distribution of Japan’s 3,333 bags out of 9,981 bags (equivalent 300-MT rice contribution) to enhance food security for people affected by Super Typhoon Rai, locally known as ‘Odette’, in the Philippines.
