ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, was invited to attend the ‘ASEAN Conference on Strengthening Food Security’ on 17 April 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia together with a number of government officials of the ASEAN Member States as well as representatives from the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) Secretariat, the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat and ASEAN’s dialogue partners.
On 9 February 2023, the APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM), together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, as well as the APTERR staff had a great opportunity to attend an online meeting with ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) led by Mr. Satvinder Signh, Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) for ASEAN Economic Community, along with Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Head of Food, Agriculture and Forestry Division (FAFD) and Mr. Akhmad Ramadhan Fatah, Officer of the FAFD.
As the APTERR Secretariat is continually building cooperation with various organisations in supporting the APTERR’s activities to become more efficient and effective, on 26 October 2022, the team led by General Manager,Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, and Japanese Expert, Mr. Toshiki Tojo, had a great opportunity to discuss with the Thailand Rice Exporters Association (TREA) led by President of the TREA, Pol Lt. Charoen Laothamatas.
The APTERR team visited the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) in Bangkok on 18 October 2022 for exploring a future collaboration on disaster-related information and management.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, and the APTERR staff visited the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT), Ministry of Commence of Thailand on 22 September 2022. The group received a warm welcome from Ms. Siribhusaya Ungphakorn, Director of Rice Trade Administration Division, as well as her team. The APTERR Secretariat and the DFT had a productive discussion, particular on the issues of current rice market situation, policies and regulations in Thailand, ASEAN Plus Three countries, and global level. Those information will be useful for the APTERR Secretariat in promoting the implementation of Tier 1 and 2 among the member countries.
