Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Ms. Sita Kumpol, Secretary to Japanese Expert, had a meeting with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Myanmar Country Office led by Mr. Paolo Mattei, Deputy Country Director (Programme), Ms. Melissa Hein, OIM and Performance Reports Officer and Mr. Atisushi Kondo, Head of Rakhine Area office, on 28 June 2023 in Yangon, Myanmar.

Mr. Ando and his secretary received a warm welcome from the WFP team. As one of the international humanitarian organisations working in Myanmar similar with the WFP, Mr. Ando introduced the APTERR’s mechanism and activities to his counterparts. Currently, the APTERR Secretariat has released APTERR stocks in mitigating food insecurity to people affected by Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine state.
Both had a fruitful information exchange and discussion on the updated situation on food security in Myanmar. The outcomes will be useful for the APTERR Secretariat in carrying out the programme implementation in Myanmar. Also, the meeting helped deepen cooperation between the APTERR Secretariat and other international humanitarian organisations such as the WFP.
