Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
The Republic of Korea delivered 300 MT of rice or around 7,500 bags to Cambodia through the APTERR’s Tier 3 programme. The rice was completely unloaded and stored at the warehouses in Kampong Cham and Takeo provinces on 28 – 29 November 2021.
The 700-MT rice generously contributed by the Republic of Korea through APTERR’s Tier 3 programme was completely delivered to the warehouse in Lao PDR on 18 November 2021 thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) of Lao PDR in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
The ceremonial turnover of 2 MT or 20,000 meals of precooked rice contributed by Japan through the APTERR’s Tier 3 programmes was hosted by the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines led by Atty. Judy Carol L. Dansal, Administrator of the NFA, at the NFA Central Office located in Quezon City on 8 October 2021 with strict compliance to the health and safety protocols to prevent a widespread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The virtual signing ceremony of the Modification to the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for the Release and Utilisation of Earmarked Stocks under the Tier 1 Programme of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve between the Philippines and Japan was conducted and facilitated by the APTERR Secretariat on 8 October 2021 under the supervision of Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat.
Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Staff for Implementation as the representative from the APTERR Secretariat, attended the Disaster Resilience Week’s side event, which jointly organised the UN Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), to celebrate UNOSAT’s 20 years of satellite imagery applications for enhanced disaster resilience on 26 August 2021 via teleconference.
