Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Aro KASAKAWA, Japanese Expert, and the APTERR staff, was invited to a working lunch hosted by Ms. Morakot Sriswadi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, on 16 September 2025 in Vientiane. The lunch was also attended by Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Chief Executive Officer of Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat.
During the discussion, Dr. Choomjet introduced the APTERR organisation and its activities, particularly the Tier 3 implementation in Lao PDR. He also highlighted APTERR’s participation in the handover ceremony of 1,050-MT Tier 3 rice contributed by P.R. China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. The donation, handed over on the same day in Vientiane, provided emergency relief to people in 12 provinces of the Lao PDR affected by a series of cyclones. Furthermore, the group also exchanged insights on the current food security and disaster situations in the Lao PDR.
