ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve 

The APTERR Secretariat team, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager along with Mr. Aro Kasakawa, Japanese Expert, and the APTERR Staff, visited Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi, Thailand on 6 August 2025.

 

 

The APTERR Secretariat team was welcomed by Ms. Siriporn Chonwanit, Assistant Director of General Administration Division of Laem Chabang Port, Port Authority of Thailand. Ms. Chonwanit also shared insights on Thailand’s overall logistic system, and the capabilities and activities of Laem Chabang Port, which is the main deep-sea port of Thailand. Laem Chabang Port plays a significant role in logistics and trade in the region and has become Thailand's major port since 1997. In addition, Laem Chabang Port is currently developing and constructing the 3rd phase of the port, which is an expansion project to handle up to 7 million more TEU and to accommodate larger container vessels.

 

 

Besides, the APTERR Secretariat team visited the observation tower to observe the port from a high view. Through the field study at Laem Chabang Port, the APTERR Secretariat team gained knowledge and concrete understanding of Thailand’s overall logistic system and the capabilities of Laem Chabang Port.
