The APTERR Secretariat, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager along with Mr. Aro Kasakawa, Japanese Expert and the APTERR staff, participated in the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Table Top Exercise (TTX) on 3-4 December 2025 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The APTERR TTX was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei Darussalam with support from the ASEAN Secretariat, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the APTERR Secretariat to strengthen APTERR mechanism for emergency response and preparedness.
The TTX was attended by the representatives from most APTERR member countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat, ADB, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and the APTERR Secretariat. The representatives from Timor-Leste were also present at the workshop.
The TTX was a two-day event. There were the sections for speakers who delivered presentations and briefings on regional food security, and interactive sessions which consisted of scenario-based simulations work. The objectives of this TTX were to discuss implementation of APTERR mechanism, especially Tier 1 programme, which utilises APTERR Earmarked Stocks.
