Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI), virtually participated in the 24th ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Focal Point Meeting held on 17–18 June 2025. The meeting was organised by the AFSIS Secretariat and hosted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Dr. Choomjet shared updates on the APTERR’s key activities and achievements in 2025 and 2026, highlighting APTERR’s continued commitment to strengthening food security and ensuring timely provision of rice assistance during emergencies across the ASEAN Plus Three region. He emphasised the important role of AFSIS in supporting APTERR’s implementation through early warning systems, food security monitoring, data sharing, and information exchange.
He also expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership with AFSIS and reaffirmed the commitment to further enhancing collaboration. He further conveyed his gratitude to the AFSIS Secretariat and the Government of the Philippines for successfully organising the productive and insightful meeting.
The two-day meeting brought together representatives from the ASEAN Member States, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and partner organisations to review regional agricultural and food security developments, discuss ongoing initiatives, and chart the future direction of AFSIS.
