The APTERR Secretariat led by General Manager Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn had a fruitful joint meeting on Japan’s new initiative ‘School Distribution Programme’ under this year’s Tier 3 with the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines under a supervision of Administrator Judy Calor L. Dansal on 18 May 2022 in Bohol, the Philippines

Participants from the APTERR Secretariat; Japanese expert of the APTERR Secretariat Toshiki Tojo, Head of Implementation Sub-division Jansinee Kankaew and Technical Staff for FEMI Nattavadee Sraprathum, and the NFA; Assistant Administrator for Finance and Administration Gerry J. Ambrosio, Regional Director of NFA-Region VII Maria Lewina A. Tolentino, Brach Manager of Bohol branch office Maria Fe. H. Evasco and Division Manager of Operations Coordination Department Rosalyn D. Comia were present at this significant meeting.

  

To set the concreate framework of implementation, both parties exchanged views and shared their experiences as well as concerns on how to effectively carry out this new initiative which targets the school students in vulnerable areas in order to achieve the SDGs of ‘No Poverty’ and ‘Zero Hunger’.

Under this trial programme, Japan’s 20-MT rice will be prepositioned in the Philippines for six months to prepare for emergency. However, if there is no emergency occurrence, the rice will be released after the termination of stockpile period to help alleviate poverty and nutrition for those school students in the Philippines.
