A meeting between the APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia led by Mr. Chheng Vibolrith, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, was held on 14 June 2022 at the office of MAFF in Phnom Penh to discuss and update this year’s Tier 3 programme implementation in Cambodia.
Apart from exchanging views on the implementation of Tier 3 programme and the food security situation in Cambodia, Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert of the APTERR Secretariat, took the opportunity to demonstrate the meeting on the cooking direction of the precooked rice which will be implemented in the country this year and introduced Japan’s new initiative called “School Distribution” under Tier 3 programme.
The APTERR Secretariat on 15 June 2022 accompanied with the MAFF team went to inspect the warehouse in Chamkar Leu district, Kampong Cham province. This warehouse is designated to store APTERR’s 300 MT of milled rice and 2 MT of precooked rice under Japan’s FY2022 contribution.
The APTERR, one and only regional rice reserve cooperation in the APT region, has been continuing its efforts to secure food security in time of emergency through its existing Tier 1-3 mechanisms.
