ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

The APTERR field trip on Thai Farmers’ Way of Life was held on 20 June 2018 at the Lifestyle and Spirit of Thai Farmers Learning Centre in Suphanburi Province, Thailand. This trip aimed at providing staff member knowledge and expertise on Thai farmers’ way of life as well as production and quality improvement processes of rice seeds in Thailand which are crucial for development of agriculture and food security.
Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat together with Mr. Yoshiharu Toeda, Japanese expert and Ms.Jansinee Kankaew, Head of Implementation sub-division attended the distribution of 225-MT rice donated by Japan through APTERR Tier 3 programme to help the poor who affected by flood in Khammouane and Suvannakhet provinces, Lao PDR on 12-13 June 2018.

Viet Nam welcomed 4,700-MT rice donated by the Republic of Korea through the APTERR Tier 3 programme to help people suffered by typhoon Damrey. The ceremonial turnover of the said rice was taken place on 21 March 2018 in Quang Nam province, Viet Nam.
The ceremonial handover of 225-MT rice donated by the Japanese Government through the APTERR Tier 3 programme was held on 12 March 2018 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Representatives from the Ministry of Agricultures and Forestry, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Lao PDR, the Japanese Embassy, the World Food Programme, and the APTERR Secretariat attended this significant event.

The APTERR Secretariat consisting General Manager Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, Japanese expert Mr. Yoshiharu Toeda and Head of Implementation Sub-division Ms. Jansinee Kankaew together with 2nd Secretary Mr. Kazuyoshi Suzuki and 3rd Secretary Ms. Satoko Ishimaru from the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar attended the ceremonial handover and distribution of 311.477-MT rice contributed by Japan to people affected by flash flood, landslide as well as human conflict in Kachin State.
