Release of 4,700-MT rice to help people affected by typhoon in Viet Nam
Viet Nam welcomed 4,700-MT rice donated by the Republic of Korea through the APTERR Tier 3 programme to help people suffered by typhoon Damrey. The ceremonial turnover of the said rice was taken place on 21 March 2018 in Quang Nam province, Viet Nam.
There were representatives from the Korean government led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food and Rural Affairs Mr. Kim Jong-Hoon, the Vietnamese government led by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Hoang Van Thang, the APTERR Secretariat led by General Manager Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee as well as other relevant agencies attending this event.
The handover of 4,700-MT rice was part of 10,000-MT rice contributed by the Korean government to the APTERR Tier 3 programme. The first 5,700-MT rice was delivered to Viet Nam in February 2018 which was distributed to affected people in six provinces namely Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, KonTum, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak. Meanwhile, 4,700-MT rice will be allocated to those affected in four provinces consisting Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Quang Nam.
