Distribution of Japan’s 222-MT rice under Tier 3 helps Cambodian people overcome hardship caused by natural disasters

Those beneficiaries faced the life-threatening food insecurity due to a prolonged drought and deadly floods causing large-scale damages to widespread areas in the country.

The General Directorate of Agriculture together with relevant agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Cambodia facilitated the smooth distribution in each province. Regarding this, the MAFF, Cambodia conveyed their profound gratitude and appreciation to the Government and people of Japan as well as the APTERR for tremendous supports.

This distribution is part of 300-MT rice under Japan’s magnanimous contribution to the APTERR’s Tier 3 pre-positioned programme for FY 2020. Meanwhile, the remaining 78-MT rice was distributed to people affected by substantial impacts of COVID-19 in 14 districts of the capital, Phnom Penh.
